Happy Memorial Day people!!!
It's good to get back on. I've been collecting bird shots for two weeks now from Grosse Pointe, my yard and St. Johns Marsh up near Algonac. Lots of rain and cool weather made for difficult birding. My back yard was a lake for several days. Mark said up to 100 so here are some of several hundred I took. Usually a only few out of a hundred are keepers. It's fun keeping the camera in the car watching for a good photo op. These are from my new full frame camera (6d) and I'm not too happy with the sharpness as compared to my other one (50d). I also have to crank up the ISO (1600) to speed up the shutter and it's kinda soft focus for wildlife type stuff. These were all shot with Canon 6d and 100-400 L series zoom.
Still having fun!!

WOW!!!!! What can Is ay Burr, those are all fabulous........I wish I'd had the time to head up top Algonac last week, O totally forgot about the marshes and all the birds up there.....the take-offs and landings you took were tremendous...Great job Burr and welcome back!!!
ReplyDeleteBurr - DAMN....these are just magnificent. Now I'm embarrassed by what I even posted. These are truly great bird pictures. You've captured the essence of feathers, movement, color, stillness, takeoffs and landings, etc!! Very, very nice. Hard to compete with this.
ReplyDeleteSPECTACULAR! Such great shots! I have a 60d and have been chomping at the bit to get the 6d. What lenses did you use? Do you love the full frame?
ReplyDeleteI'm not too excited about it for fast moving nature stuff. My 50d shoots 6.5 frames per second and the 6d shoots 4.5. I use the 100-400mm L zoom.
ReplyDeleteYou would love it for the type of stuff you do. Fabulous camera. WIFI, GPS, video, 20.2 mp full frame. Fantastic pics at 1600iso for low light.
This from a review:
"So, it's good in low light, but not especially well-suited to fast moving action. Likewise the EOS 6D's continuous shooting capabilities aren't particularly swift: at 4.5fps many DSLRs, and mirrorless compact system cameras can outrun it. But the EOS 6D isn't about action, Canon likes to describe it as a camera for landscape, travel and portrait photographers."
Burr, your bird shots are exquisite- great color, focus and action. Love the way you filled the frame! It was interesting to read your comments on the technical aspects of your two cameras- I've got a lot to learn!
