MOVING WATER STUDY

Greetings,
I had fun with this yesterday afternoon.  I have been couch ridden with a cold so I went out to enjoy the beautiful afternoon.  I took the garden hose and let it run while I took some pics.  Some with a tripod and some without.  Different shutter speeds and iso. This is the way to learn about shutter speeds.  After 155 pictures I was getting the hang of it.  The difference in 1/1500 and 1/2000 is noticeable, not to mention 1/30 to 1/3000.
The first 4 -- no tripod--small stream from nozzel
The next 3 --tripod and large deluge from hose

Here's the setup with water splashing on light (solid stream)  1/45sec f11 iso100

1/1000 f5.6  iso400 This looks like a solid stream until  it's stopped at 1/1000sec

Water pouring off light at 1/1000 f5.6 iso400

Similar to above--I like the drops

Open hose stream-tripod-1/2000 f4 iso100

1/3000sec f4.5 iso400  Compare to next shot at 1/10sec These two pictures were taken set at shutter priority 1/3000 and 1/10.  Notice how the camera went to f4.5 for the 1/3000 shot(wide open) and then went to f32(tiny opening) for the 1/10 shot to let enough light in for each.

This is what we see--- 1/10sec f32 iso400

ORANGE STUFF

Hi folks,  Here's some orange stuff--perfect time of year for it.
I read the email from Joanne about something orange and I looked out the window and saw the orange moon just after sunset low in the west.
#1  This is how it looked in the sky but the picture came out a lot whiter (any ideas) so I tweaked in a little orange to make it look the way I saw it.   1/60 f5.6 iso400 400mm

#2  Garden harvest 1/3 sec f22 iso100  13mm wide angle I wanted everything in focus so-- f22 aperture-but look at shutter speed--hard to hand hold still enough. I gotta start using the tripod

#3  1/1000 f2.8 iso800 13mm
#4  From my Tucson trip- If I lived there I'd do this every night     I used the flash to light up the bushes       1/125 f5.6 iso200 11mm

#5  My gardeners                       1/125 5.6 iso800  44mm

#6 1/15sec f2.8 iso100 13mm
